Taking Attendance is an assignment type within In-Class assignments that allows instructors to take attendance using Aktiv with a unique code. Note that this feature will also lock any students who do not complete the attendance out of completing In-Class assignments.
1. Navigate to https://aktiv.com/login and log in to your Account. Select 'Launch Web App' to open Aktiv.
2. Within the Assignments Tab, select In-Class then click "New Attendance."
3. Set a "Time Limit" to determine how long your students have to enter the day’s attendance code. Students who do not enter the code within the specified limit will be marked absent from class and be unable to complete In Class assignments or Polls, if using them.
4. Set a "Session Length" to determine how long your students remain checked in for class.
5. Determine which students will receive the Attendance by selecting "All Students" to assign to the entire class or "Individuals/ Groups" to assign to specific students or groups (learn more about groups here.)
6. Click "Save for Class" to publish later during your lesson or "Start" to generate the unique code right away.
7. If saving for class, once you are ready click "Start" to start the time limit and create the unique code for that session.
8. Project the code to the students so they can enter it into their devices.
You're all set! You have now successfully created your first Attendance.
