Math question styles: What is Graphing mode?

Our Graphing Mode questions leverage the power of Desmos to give your students an interactive graphing experience for every learning objective in your course that involves graphing.

 

Login

 

From your Chrome or Firefox Browser, navigate to our login page and login to your existing instructor account, and select Launch Web App.User is on the login page where the user enters login email and password then selects login. The screen changes to a list of courses and they select Launch Web App.

 

Access the Question Bank

 

Click the Questions Tab, the final tab on the main page, to navigate to the question bank directly.

On the main dashboard page, a user navigates to the question bank using the last tab on the main navigation area labeled as Questions

 

You can also navigate to the Question Bank when creating or editing an assignment by selecting "Add Problem(s)".

On main page, user selects Create Activity and Add Problems to see question bank. The user also selects Edit Assignment on the main page and then Add Problems for the same result.

 

Find Graphing Questions


To locate graphing questions, navigate to a Graphing topic, then into the subtopics. For example, the category Graphs, then Graphing Linear Equations, and the subsection Graph a Linear Equation by Plotting Points contains these questions. If a question is algorithmic, you will need to select "Click to show individual (static) problems" to preview the question.
User clicks through the categories as mentioned to reach a Graphing question, then selects the view static question option to see a preview of the graphing question.

Graphing questions are also indicated by the Graphing icon, which shows an X and Y axis and curved graph. This is displayed before the question statement.

The graphing icon is highlighted as it sits before the words Representative Question and the question statement.

Graphing Question Types

Each of our graphing questions has been uniquely designed to provide your students with an easy-to-use, interactive graphing experience. Below you can see an example of our intercepts graphing function.

User works through a intercept graphing question by adjusting the circular grab points of each line and slides them into position before submitting the answer.

 

Here is an example where a student will have to adjust the curve of a cosine function.

As with our Final Answer questions, our authors anticipate the most common mistakes students make in composing their graphs, and deliver answer specific feedback designed to help students pinpoint their mistakes, and correct them on their subsequent attempts.
