Our Step-Wise Mode questions are designed to engage your students in a step-by-step problem solving activity, proving them with feedback and coaching every step of the way. Using an artificial intelligence engine, we're able to give students feedback on ANY step they enter, and when they make a mistake, we tell them exactly what that mistake is.
1. From your Chrome or Firefox Browser, navigate to 101edu.co/login and login to your existing instructor account, and select Launch Web App.
2. Select "New Activity" and select Activity type
3. Scroll down to "Add problems()" or "Add problem pool"
4. Step-Wise mode questions will have a symbol in red next to the question
Students use an on-screen palette to enter each step in their problem solving strategy (they can also use their computer keyboard, if they are working their assignment on a laptop or computer).
With every step they enter, our artificial intelligence engine checks their work, and gives them feedback on whether their step is correct, or if it contains a mistake.
We let the student's intuition guide them through solving the problem, we haven't prescribed a recipe for which (or how many) steps the student should take as they solve each problem.
Step-Wise questions engage students to compose the math that represents each step of their work themselves (so they can do that on scratch paper, when working on a quiz or test) and coaches them on their problem-solving strategy without giving them a "recipe" for how they should approach a problem.
Congratulations! You now know what Step-wise mode is!
