Our scaffolded questions in Aktiv Mathematics are designed to give your students a highly interactive experience with applying fundamental math skills to solving problems. Once they’ve become accustomed to a few basic manipulations and gestures used in all of these problems, these questions will give them a great opportunity to work through their problem-solving steps, and get feedback on any mistakes they make along the way.

In Scaffolded Mode, students interact with the math on their screen through a series of manipulations. With each manipulation they make, they're asked to choose the outcome of that operation by way of a pop-up menu. These menus include multiple distractors that represent the most common mistakes students might make.
Scaffolded mode is intended to give your students an opportunity to practice their fundamental skills, and get feedback on exactly those steps where they make a mistake. When a student submits an incorrect answer, we show them a timeline of their work, and let them know exactly where they made a mistake, and what that mistake was. When students retry the problem, we take them back to the place where they made their first mistake.
Congratulations! You now know what Scaffolded mode is!
You're all set! As always, feel free to reach out to support@aktiv.com with any questions.
